Can you imagine the sort of brainstorming that must have gone into those Closing Ceremonies? "OK, howzabout this ... We start off with a couple of giant papier-mache dinosaur heads! A boy dinosaur and a girl dinosaur--well put lipstick on the girl dinosaur so that everybody knows its a girl! Oh, oh, and then well get KISS to play with ... is Tonya Harding available? No? Well, howzabout Katarina Witt then--nobody can tell these figure skaters apart anyway ... And OSMONDS, I wants OSMONDS! And skating Tribbles!"

Alcohol may be hard to get in Utah, but apparently LSD isnt.

I hate the Olympics, but I love them. The announcers are annoying, the officials are like Little League parents only with money and political pull, the opening and closing ceremonies rival only the Academy Awards and the Superbowl halftime show in mawkish bad taste--but at seventh and last its about the athletes, most of whom never had a chance of winning a medal but are so overjoyed just to be there that you cant help feeling all warm and cuddly toward them. Even the ones in the midst of the inevitable media-fed controversies managed to keep their dignity and grace while everyone around them was losing theirs. I want to take every single one of them home with me--but not in a sexual way. OK, maybe some of them in a sexual way.

Finally, just to show what a Great Big Huge Geek I really am ...

I Am A: True Neutral Elf Mage Bard

Alignment:

True Neutral characters are very rare. They believe that balance is the most important thing, and will not side with any other force. They will do whatever is necessary to preserve that balance, even if it means switching allegiances suddenly.

Race:

Elves are the eldest of all races, although they are generally a bit

smaller than humans. They are generally well-cultured, artistic, easy-going, and because of their long lives, unconcerned with day-to-day activities that other races frequently conccern themselves with. Elves are, effectively, immortal, although they can be killed. After a thousand years or so, they simply pass on to the next plane of existance.

Primary Class:

Mages harness the magical energies for their own use. Spells, spell books, and long hours in the library are their loves. While often not physically strong, their mental talents can make up for this.

Secondary Class:

Bards are the entertainers. They sing, dance, and play instruments to make other people happy, and, frequently, make money. They also tend to dabble in magic a bit.
