OK, so I managed to drag my ass to the polls yesterday after all. Most of the local elections went my way--including that silly neo-Prohibitionist proposition to ban alcohol on city beaches, "for Our Children"--and my esteemed Governor was running unopposed and spent most of his time dicking around in the other party's primary contest, so that one was a big yawn for me.

November should be interesting, though. The Republican gubernatorial candidate, Bill Simon, is a right-wing freak of Dornanesque proportions and the Democratic incumbent should have him for breakfast if all goes well. Except that Gray Davis is basically Bill Clinton minus the charisma and the satyriasis--in other words, he's Al Gore. So we'll see.

It's times like this I'm really happy the Mexican border is so close by.
